This
movie has left me in complete confusion - was I supposed to
laugh or cry!!! Either I have become a prude, a wet blanket
or have lost my humor - but, I swear Heartbreakers left me
with a lump and it was cancerous for my breast!!
Two women Max (Sigourney Weaver) and her daughter Page (Jennifer
Love Hewitt)are beautiful, sexy and charming - every man's
dream come true!! Every man considering their sexual habitués,
luring them into venus traps seems easy for the deadly duo.
Max is the kind of woman guys go gaga about - curvy, smooth
and all tongue. She is also a crafty strategist who marries
rich suckers only to divorce them for settlement money when
they're caught with their pants down. Her plan includes an
accomplice another sexy shyster to maneuver the target into,
um, position -someone like her daughter.
But while pulling a swindle on quirky cigarette tycoon Tensy
(Gene Hackman), Page meets the ultimate boyfriend-next-door
(Jason Lee) and soon does the unthinkable - she falls in love.
Things like morals and a conscience start to surface, and
with a vengeful ex hot on their heels, a dead body in the
trunk, and their screwball scam falling to pieces, mother
and daughter are forced to square off and examine their crazy
relationship to keep their own hearts in one piece. That's
about the gist, if you are looking for a story.
Three times Emmy Award-winning writer, director and executive
producer David Mirkin began his career as a standup comic,
performing at the Improvisation, the Comedy Store and other
clubs around the country. That was the start up of a career
that garnered a lot of recognition and awards for him as he
moved forward into doing television series - Simpsons. Now,
its directing films, call it fine appreciation for talent
an American Dream!
Now, getting back to this flick that he has so artfully managed
to cut into comic pieces without giving it a continuous body.
The flow in the script is missing - what happens to the dead
body!! That was one of the biggest bloopers here and yes,
tits and ass have a major role in this flick - some 'body'
erred. Not everyone is a dickhead - this movie makes men out
to be ...smirk, smirk! Mebbe the guy in the editing table
decided to make a corpse out of director's show. Somebody
should have told him movie making is no stand up show!!!
Getting my humor back - Gene Hackman has coughed up a lot
of no so delectable situations for the con woman Max; she
not only has to kiss the frog, she has to be a Russian too.
Somehow Weaver as Max lets us down - she looked like she was
acting all the time …haahahhahahahaa.
