We have all heard of fan passion moments with actors and Shilpa Shukla (Bindiya Naik of Chak De! India) got her share when she recently decided to visit Tihar jail in Delhi. After all she has played Rajuben in a tele-film, which was inspired on the life of Mumbai’s first real-life gangster woman Neeta Naik.
A source close to Shilpa who had worked closely with her during the making of the tale-film says, “Shilpa is a talented actress. The manner in which she has balanced the different layers of performances is truly amazing.”

Talking about Shilpa’s trip to Tihar jail, the source includes, “Initially nobody recognized her. But it was when Shilpa was asked to remove her glares that the cat was let out of the bag. What followed was a big time tehalka in Tihar jail. The jail superintendent was summoned, careless whispers about the Chak de! Star making an entry spread like wild fire.”
Shilpa Shukla verifies the news, “The visit did open my eyes. I was treated like a star. All the policewalas wanted to sip chai with me and click my pictures on their cell phones. It was amazing to see how human beings create life around them, whatever the situation is. There were moments when I got tears in my eyes.” |
