Synopsis:
In the ancient city of Banaras, in today's times, lives the Sahay family. The father, Shivshankar Sahay, is a retired professor of Economics. His wife Sabitri is the anchor and backbone of the family.



They have two lovely daughters Badki and Chutki. Badki has had to leave her studies due to the financial turbulence of the family. Chutki, a bright student is the one they have pinned their hopes on. Badki and Chutki are dimly aware of their problems, but too full of vitality and 'Banarasi masti' to let it bother them.



Badki, unable to see her strong mother buckle down like this, impulsively decides to go to Mumbai to look for a job.



Badki is forced to leave for Mumbai and has to struggle hard in the strange city, and can't seem to find a job that can sustain her. Badki is forced to face numerous challenges, and choose the path that seems to be best for her.



In the meanwhile, Chutki passes with flying colors, and moves to Mumbai to join an advertising agency as a management trainee. Badki's problems are compounded as she is no longer the person she was in Banaras.



Chutki discovers Badki's compromises and confronts her. When Badki gets a proposal, everyone is surprised.



Will Badki get the happy future she deserves? Or will her past catch up with her? Can Shivshankar and Sabitri reconcile to the facts? What will happen to Chutki and her wedding plans?
