MOVIE REVIEW

Director Goldie Bhel may be one of the best friends of Abhishek but his friendship is not doing any good for Jr. Bachchan as far as professional relationship is concerned. Disappointing direction from Goldie Behl.

Like all super hero movies the tale is simple – Hero fights to save the world from a villain who wants to be eternal. The only difference being, that this superhero is straight out of Indian mythology with an Indian look.

As every other superhero film, Drona's story too deals with the clash between the good and the evil where Abhishek plays the super hero Drona, a savior of the world, and Kay Kay is seen portraying the character of the evil who wants to kill Drona in order to have his control over the entire world. In this otherwise boring film, Priyanka Chopra's sensuality brings some relief. She plays the bodyguard to Drona.

The major pain in the film was Kay Kay Menon’s character Riz Raizada. Poor characterization puts Menon’s attempt to waste. The character seems to be inspired by Batman’s Joker. His strange and garish wardrobe and hairstyle makes him look like a gay… really anguish.

The challenges that Drona faces to succeed in his mission are far from impressive. The sword fights and car chases are all corny. Drona strengths and power are not dealt with in detail, which is so very important for a superhero film.

Abhishek Bachchan, quite honestly speaking is inappropriate for the role of a Super hero. One cannot help but make the unfair comparison with Hrithik Roshan in Krrish.

Priyanka Chopra could’ve been called the saving grace if her character was a little stronger. Jaya Bachchan has a small role, in most of which is she seems she is almost crying.
Coming to the songs, which have no meaning in the film.  The only thing that stands out in Drona is the brilliant special effects, which are way ahead of Bollywood standards. Otherwise a movie with a lousy story, average performances and poor screenplay and direction.

By the end of the film… I really felt sad for Abhishek who had a lot of hopes from this film.
