Dance Guru Genesh Acharya’s film “Money Ha to Honey Hai “ has a few scenes that can make you laugh but in general the film lacks to be an entertainer and the script of the film has many loopholes and insignificant twists and turns are present, adding to the trash is the less spontaneous performance of the lead stars.
Govinda plays Bobby, a pampered rich kid who fools other people to make a quick buck. Manoj Bajpai plays an incurably optimistic Lalabhai, who keeps smiling despite losing crores in hopeless business deals. Aftab Shivdasani plays a hard-working copywriter Gaurav whose honesty becomes an insurmountable hurdle to success. Celina Jaitley plays a struggling fashion designer Shruti who wants to design clothes for common people. Hansika Motwani plays a television actress Ashima who is sick of playing saas bahu roles and wants to work in films. Upen Patel plays a struggling model Manik, who does C-grade, pulpy ads (like Fauji kaccha) and sleeps with a fashion designer to get his lucky break.
The six are at the rock bottom of their lives when they get a call from a dying business tycoon (Prem Chopra ) who has, for some inexplicable reason, chosen them as the inheritors of his wealth. At first, all six ignore the call. But later they realize it is their key to the riches. Still, there are many hurdles to cross before they can realize their dream.
All these people once get SMS’s that informs them that they are owners of a Rs 1000 crores company and when they all reach the company, they are told that the company has to pay back Rs 1200 crores dues and after paying the dues they will become the owners and until then they are all are trapped into the company.
The second half has interesting parts in pieces but overall effect of the movie gets low for the initial part. A few songs are choreographed well and cinematography is average. Director’s angles are fine but the director couldn’t judge the script well.
To be fair, ‘Money Hai’ begins pretty well as each character is introduced. The most likeable of the lot are Manoj Bajpai, Upen Patel and Aftab Shivdasani. Govinda does chip in his characteristic humour in between. Also add to the melee two irritating caricatures of Ekta Kapoor and Vijay Mallya.
The actor Govinda has kept himself busy in politics and that looks in his performance, he has turned old and pairing with actress like Hansika is a complete mismatch. Manoj Bajpai couldn’t fit the movie genre and Aftab Shivdasani is ok. Upen Patel is effective.
The film will get viewers basically Govinda’s fans and people will watch Hansika doing a movie in a mature way.
