MOVIE REVIEW

An another bollywood film with an idea has taken from Hollywood flick.

But for some vague reason debutant director Arjun Bali chooses to strip off the Jennifer Love Hewitt and Paul Nicholls-starrer and give it a new Indian attire in his ‘Ru-Ba-Ru’, starring Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami in lead roles.

Nikhil (Randeep) is a corporate too busy preparing his presentations to reply small gestures of love to his live-in girlfriend Tara (Shahana), who’s a theatre actress. The couples are in love but something is wrong. She wants a long-term promise from Nikhil who already appears married to his job.

Then something happens that makes Nikhil realize how he’s been taking Tara’s love for granted. Post interval, a changed Nikhil gets to relive an entire day with Tara in the way he would have wanted. He takes her out and does everything that would make her happy. But then, something unexpected happens again.

Honestly, the plot of ‘Ru-Ba-Ru’ might have been quite exciting, if not original. The whole concept of a guy getting to relive the same day again in a different way could have been appealing. But the director fails to bind the story and tell it in a way that keeps you hooked. The fault lies partly in the script and partly in Bali’s execution.

Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami are in worthy performances. The chemistry between them – their quarrels, tiffs and compromises – is too good to be anything but love. While Randeep’s dialogue delivery leaves a lot to be preferred, Shahana is really natural in her performance.

On the sidelines, Jayant Kripalani, Rati Agnihotri and Kulbhushan Kharbanda are well. The movie’s music is pretty poor. Cinematography is easy going.

‘Ru-Ba-Ru’ does have a few touching moments. It may be hit but due to lack of some elements make it average film.
