MOVIE REVIEW

It’s “Literally All in the Family” this time. Sarkar Raj, a sequel of Sarkar, is one of the most awaited movies. Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj does not disappoint the expectations of the audience. It is an excellent story with a powerful execution. Sarkar Raj is embellished with the actors who have made footprints in the acting field.

Anita (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), CEO of Sheppard Power Plant, an MNC, plans to set a power plant in rural Maharashtra & presents this proposal in front of Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) by explaining him the positive points of doing so. Together, they both set out to convince the villagers, to support them. But it is not easy to convince Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan), who is against it due to several reasons like the destruction of several homes due to the continuance of the project. But things were not as easy as they seemed. Sarkar was not the only one against it. They face political opposition by Sanjay Somji (Rajesh Shringapure), who tries to turn the locals against them. Meanwhile, Anita falls in love with already married, Shankar. Balancing with the villagers and the political pressures, the movie progresses showing how Shankar and Anita manage to become successful. A film strongly implanted in the grounds of politics, Sarkar Raj brings out the contradiction between modern ideas and traditional beliefs.

Ram Gopal Varma yet again shows his excellence in handling political subjects like these. Prashant Pandey has written the script with expertise. Amit Roy’s cinematography is incredible with excellent village kind locations. The screenplay of the movie is well written, as the characters have been cleverly crafted. The dialogues of the movie are not in a normal conversational way, and that’s what sets them apart. Each line makes a statement on its own.

Performances in the movie are definitely something to be looked out for. Amitabh Bachchan as usual, comes out with a terrific performance. As Sarkar, he copes up to be very convincing in the shoes of a prominent political leader. Abhishek Bachchan progressing with every movie manages to deliver an ace this time. Aishwarya’s performance is significant, with stunning looks as an executive. Her chemistry with the two other Bachchans is well appreciated. Attracting the audience is another fact that it happens to be the first movie of the “Ash-Abhi” pair after their marriage also involving senior Bachchan.
