With more than 20 suicide cases in the first 21 days of 2010 in Mumbai, Bollywood celebrities have extended their help and support for the depressed students who might take any such step.
And leading the way is superstar Aamir Khan who is working with the Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika (BMC) for motivating students as a large number of students who have committed suicides are from BMC schools.

Aamir was heard on the radio, appealing the students not to succumb under pressure and commit suicide. Aamir has also appealed to the parents that they should not push their children for doing which is over their capabilities. “I appeal to all students not to take life so seriously. Even I have failed in number of subjects in school, so it’s no big deal,” he tells.

While lyricist Javed Akhtar had termed this as a ‘cowardly’ act for those who dare to do it. He motivates the students by saying, “You should not dislike sadness, failures, or bad times. Instead, you should come up and fight. There is no point in saying quit. This is a cowardly act. A man is defeated when he stops trying and gives up. Till the time you are fighting, you have not lost.”
He also mentioned his example by recalling his days of struggle in Mumbai and bearing all kinds of difficulties. But he never thought of committing suicide, he tells. |
