Canning the 'Massakali' song number, the snow white pigeon had endeared itself to the ' Delhi 6' star. SK was totally distressed when she learnt that a number of pigeons were being wounded or hurt due to the 'manjha' or glass coated thread used widely in kite flying.

Besides, she was shocked to hear of the human casualties caused due to the 'manjha', during kite flying festivals.

Swerving into damage control mode, Sonam Kapoor has dashed off a letter to Home Minister R. R. Patil, no less, requesting a ban on the use of 'manjha' in Maharashtra .

'The use of 'manjha' may be entertaining,' she writes in her letter, 'but for many families... human and bird… who lose their loved ones, it is a tragedy.'
