My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves’ is a typical Bollywood hit-and-run flick that pretty much entertains while it lasts. It’s a fresh movie, and it has E. Niwas’ brand of simple comedy, as was evident in Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. Having all of drama, romance, comedy, action etc.
So the plot - Anthony (Nikhil Dwivedi) is a tapori bartender, who prefers acting instead. An orphan, handed over to Father Braganza (Mithun Chakraborthy) by Sikander (Pawan Malhotra), who’s an underworld don under the mentorship of Seth Murtuza (Anupam Kher). Anthony finally gets his break in a film, but in the midst of this happiness witnesses an event - a murder - that changes his life forever. Keeping Anthony company is Ria (Amrita Rao), who, besides being an assistant to Anthony’s director, forms his love interest outside of the sets. The rest of the film is about how Anthony handles the differences that rise between himself and Sikanderbhai, and with the police twist thrown in, Anthony packs decent entertainment quality.

Newcomer Nikhil Dwivedi seems at ease - he looks promising and rarely overacts - in this taporish role offered to him. The fact that he holds his own against the likes of Pawan Malhotra in the one-on-one s is testimony to his potential acting capabilities. Amrita Rao’s role begins and ends with the fact that she has to hang around there and just look good, which she does, even in the much-publicized song with mini-skirts aplenty for those who are yet to recover from the lady’s glam look, as opposed to her Vivaah-look.

This movie is watchable and the songs are interesting.
