Shaurya is not a patriotic film or anything related to patriotism. It is a movie about justice and self belief. It is not a story about Army men but not about war or blood, nor does it have to do anything with Pakistan. It is a story about humanity, truth, courage and unfair use of powers by the army men and a fight of an Army man against the rules and laws of the Indian Army itself.

The story starts with two friends Sid (Rahul Bose) and Akash (Javed Jaffrey) who are lawyers and also has different perspective of life. They stand against each other in the court room fighting for Javed Khan (Deepak Dobriyal) who had been accused for shooting his senior officer on a mission. The story starts slow but the suspense behind the case keeps us glued to the screen. The story unfolds on the second half. Breaking Javed’s silence is what the story is all about. The case changes the lives of the two friends fighting for justice.

The strong point about Samar khan’s Shaurya is the excellent performances by the lead actors Rahul Bose, Javed Jaffrey, Deepak Dobriyal and Minisha Lamba. We will see Rahul Bose in a totally different character. Kay Kay Menon as always is the show stealer with his amazing performance as Brigadier Pratap, who seeks hatred against the muslim community and therefore makes it a reason to accuse Javed, especially in the scene in the court room where he is called for the trial and thus reveals the mishap that happened to his family and the reason of hating the Muslim community. Minisha Lamba plays the role of an investigating journalist of Daily Bhaskar, Kavvya, who inspires Sid (Rahul Bose) to fight for Javed and prove his innocence. Amrita Rao is the surprise package in the film .She has been given a totally different look as she plays the character of the dead Army personnel’s widow.

The movie has been shot totally on the beautiful background of Srinagar with amazing work done in cinematography. The story is sensitive and crucial and Samar Khan has done full justice to it. Not too much emphasis has been given to the music but it still complements with the movie. Rahul Bose though in a totally different look and role has done fairly well in justifying his character as Sid as has been portrayed in the film. The film is a must watch film, with a good narrative style, amazing cinematography and mind blowing performances.
