A movie introducing another star kid who is definitely standing
tall in the queue is Jimmy, the debut film of Mithun Chakraborty’s
son, Mimoh. A much awaited film, the movie is a story about
a young boy Jimmy (Mimoh), who happens to be a mechanical
engineer who works n a garage during the day time and alongside
works as a DJ in a night club. He works hard to earn money
to pay off debts left behind by his late father. This determined
and sincere boy comes in contact with a rich girl Megha (Vivana),
with whom he falls in love. But things turn curvy for the
ambitious boy when he is charged for a murder of a young girl
whose dead body is discovered by the police in the middle
of the night. While everyone else is in a shock, Jimmy fesses
up to the crime. For reasons known solely by him, and goes
to jail. It is actually the realization of the fact that he
has cancer, and an offer of a handsome amount of money to
clear off his father’s debts, that forces him to take this
step. But after getting into jail, Jimmy realizes that he
has been conned by somebody, and that the reports of his tumor
happen to be fake! The story then moves with Jimmy’s quest
for the truth.
While the movie fares pretty well on technical
grounds, the direction leaves no chances of questioning. Quite
a lot of scenes have very beautiful cinematography. The easy
screenplay helps the audience to interpret the story better.
The music of the movie is very good. The opening song that
introduces Jimmy in the discotheque is a masterpiece. The
picturisation of the song is exceptional.
Mimoh comes across with flying colors as
a winner among all involved in the making of the film! He
is the feather in the cap, as he gives a brilliant performance
in a story centered completely on his character. The actor
has already earned enough praises for his dance, even before
the release of the film. The release only adds up to this
bundle of compliments. He depicts to be a great dancer, and
give a tough competition to the other dancers in the industry.
Mimoh promises to follow the legacy of his father to excel
in acting as well as dancing. Vivana, although not having
a major role, does complete justice to her character. The
supporting cast too does pretty well.
The Mithun Da fans have a treat for them
with Jimmy, making it a must watch for all.
