The year
2003 will once again witness a spate of releases. While most
however much we hate to write this, will be duds only some

Bhoot
Ramgopal Varma’s ghost based Ajay Devgan and Urmila Matondkar
starrer is a film that awaited with bated breath. Besides
Devgan and Matondkar the film also stars Fardeen Khan, Nana
Patekar and Rekha. Though the Varma camp insists that the
film is anything but not similar to Ghost insiders have it
that Rekha is playing what Whoopi Goldberg played in the original
while Fardeen Khan is playing the malevolent friend. Bhoot
is expected to hit the theatres sometime in mid 2003.

Koi
Mil Gaya
After the romantic thriller Kaho Naa Pyar Hai expectations
are sky high for this one. Rakesh Roshan’s thriller Koi Mil
Gaya based on ET cum Forrest Gump is to set son Hrithik’s
sagging career rolling. Will it or won’t it is the million-dollar
question! Preity Zinta Hrithik’s romantic angle adds her zing
to the film while Rekha adds spice. Extensively shot in the
hills of Manali and the breathtaking alps of New Zealand,
Koi Mil Gaya is expected to be one of the biggest releases
of 2003.

Main
Prem Ki Deewani Hoon
When the Barjatyas launched Hum Aapke Hain Koun a film that
was based on their age old flop Nadiya Ke Paar, one did not
imagine even in their wildest dreams that HAHK would be the
biggest hit of the century. The film broke all box-office
records. Inspired by its success they yet again revamped an
age-old legendary story Ramayan into a modern version called
Hum Saath Saath Hain. And they are at it again making a state-of-the-art
version of their earlier hit Chit Chor. While it starred Amol
Palekar and Zarina Wahab, MPKDH has Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek
Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. Though the film has
been in the making for the last three years, its release this
year is expected to give other filmmakers tough competition.

Line Of Control
After the success of Border and the not so successful Refugee,
JP Dutta is back to the fore with his film based on Indian
soldiers fighting the Kargil War. When the film was launched,
practically with all the major stars playing the lead in the
film, critics joked... wondered whether JP Dutta would be
able ever complete the film. But undeterred by their nasty
remarks Dutta continued to shoot his film. The press religiously
reported about the (mis)happenings on the sets. Stories about
the actors getting frustrated and there being no food and
accommodation, splashing the pages of leading papers appeared
in print on regular intervals. But voila! Dutta has practically
completed shooting a major portion of the film. In fact having
shot the war scenes the director just recently announced the
leading ladies of the film. Line Of Control is expected to
be the biggest multi starrer film ever made in the history
of Indian cinema.
