There were only a handful of stars who stayed up there and dazzled their fans this year. some recaptured lost glory while others stood on more firm ground. B4U takes a look at the newsmakers of the year that was!

Shahrukh Khan
The king Khan reigned the box office with the super hit mega venture Devdas. He was in the news certainly. Shah Rukh Khan’s sterling performance in the film fetched him critical acclaim at film festivals held abroad. The rivalry created by the media between Hrithik Roshan and him died a natural death. Shah Rukh Khan who had kept a low profile last year went out in the public in the latter part of the year. He has launched Red Chilly Productions and Farah Khan’s film Main Hoon Na, which is being shot in Darjeeling. He has other films on hand including Nikhil Advani directorial Karan Johar Production Kal Ho Na Ho.

Ajay Devgan
Company, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, Deewangi- three films and all were diversity personified. Ajay Devgan has been one actor who delivers film after film and he makes sure he doesn’t have a mediocre film on hand. Ajay Devgan had cash registers ringing with his mind-blowing performance in Company as Malik bhai and a schizophrenic in Deewangi. Coming up is Ram Gopal Varma’s Bhoot, Raj Santoshi’s Khakee and many more.

Akshay Kumar
This khiladi was always better known for stunts and dances. But call it his renewed luck or wife Twinkle’s share of good fortune, Akshay Kumar has been on a roll of hits and good movies this year. Awara Paagal Deewana and Aankhen proved he was an all rounder. To add to that he has had a full year without scandals of the personal sorts. (You know what we mean). Moreover his happiness knew no bounds when he became a father to his son Araav. With family life in order, Akshay has invested his energies in his work with some really good projects on hand he knows he will last long... really long.

Vivek Oberoi
Last year it was Hrithik Roshan who after a sensational debut was on a high of fan following. This time it is Vivek Oberoi who got rave reviews for his portrayal of Chandu bhai in Ram Gopal Varma’s Company and the fact that he stood up against Ajay was a point in his favour. Next came an experimental film Road which flopped and left him unscathed. With Shaad Ali’s Saathiya a remake of Mani Ratnam’s Alai Payuthe, Vivek has once again shown another side of his persona. The romantic hero mould fits him like glove and the offers are pouring steadily for him.

Amitabh Bachchan
After Kaun Banega Crorepati got Amitabh Bachchan the high needed for a legend. Bachchan successfully managed to keep it rolling though without KBC. He robbed banks this year starting with a bank heist plotter in Aankhen and ending the year with being a leader of a six heist team in Kaante, Bachchan excelled in two roles which had a thin line of difference. He signed projects left right and center with almost every maker in town. He encashed favours for his son Abhishek’s non-happening career. Bachchan turned sixty this year yet his fan following has dropped by a percent. Bachchan could not have asked for anything better.
