Oprah Winfrey in list of America’s most powerful celebrities...
A popular international magazine recently released its
list of America’s most powerful celebrities, and
no one’s surprised that Oprah Winfrey has come out
tops for yet another year! The chat sow Queen raked in
around $275 million in the past year, which was more than
twice as much as the runner-up on the list! For the record,
that “runner-up” happens to be none other
than the golf genius Tiger Woods, who made $115 million.
Angelina Jolie was the first Hollywood name to appear
on the list at 3, while the bootylicious Beyonce Knowles
came in at 4. The top 5 was rounded off by a new name,
as David Beckham made his move to North America count
by joining the list for the first time! The annual power
list ranks celebrities on the basis of their money and
fame, and we can’t argue with those 5 names! |

Does the name Christopher Ciccone ring a bell? I thought
not! The guy’s biggest claim to fame is that he’s
Madonna’s brother, and now he’s planning a
tell-all memoir about his superstar sibling! The bit of
this story that might cause trouble is that Christopher
will be publishing the book without the pop diva's permission!
The book is due out next month, and is his memoir based
on his life and 47 years of growing up with and working
with his sister. It’s a well known fact that Madonna's
relationship with her brother has become strained in recent
years, so we’re all expecting fireworks when this
book is made available to the aam junta! |

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe announced their separation
almost a year and a half ago, and now they’re legally
divorced. Even though the details of their divorce settlement
are confidential, it has been made known that they reached
an amiable agreement regarding the custody of their two
children. And what I personally think is amazing is that
even though they didn’t have a prenuptial agreement,
Ryan refused to seek spousal support from Reese who was
recently ranked number 60 on the celebrity list I was
talking about earlier in the show after making more than
$25 million over the last year. For the record, the couple
has obviously moved on, since Reese is now dating Jake
Gyllenhal, and Ryan’s with the Australian actress
Abbie Cornish. Let’s hope they get another shot
at happiness of the lovey-dovey kind. |

Daniel Craig has lost part of his finger during shoot!
If you’re superstitious then you’ll agree
with people that think that the new James Bond film is
jinxed! Quantam of Solace has already seen a car fall
into a lake, stuntmen get injured and the unit getting
caught in a real life gun war, and now there are rumours
that its lead star has lost part of his finger! Yup, apparently
Daniel Craig was filming an action sequence when part
of his finger was sliced off, and he was rushed to a hospital
to mend it. Amazingly, he was back on location a few hours
later, and filming continued like nothing had happened!
Quantum of Solace is the 22nd Bond film, and is due out
later this year. Just pray that Daniel makes it through
with all his digits intact! |

not being a part of Euro 2008 by marrying Coleen McLoughlin
in Italy! The couple held a reception no one’s going
to forget too soon at the 700-year-old La Cervara abbey,
where Wayne even forked out 400,000 pounds to hire his
wife’s favourite band Westlife! The most surprising
part of the evening though was when he leapt onto the
stage to sing Swear It Again with the Irish quartet, and
gave a note-perfect rendition! Let’s raise an imaginery
toast to the newlywed’s, and secretly pray that
they take the lyrics of that romantic ballad seriously! |
